About the Author: Living through the last great development era of the Montana forest environment has provided an interesting array of experiences for Craig Thomas, who came to Montana in the late 1960's to study forestry at the University of Montana School of Forestry in Missoula. As a result, his career in forestry has spanned an era in which the development of forest resources marched hand-in-hand with a changing social environment.
